Mr. LaRouche spends an hour going over the strategic situation caused by the breakdown of the financial system and the problems of achieving reforms that would bring relief due to the figure of Felix "The Fixer" Rohatyn and his vice grip on the Democratic Party. An initiative Mr. LaRouche had around that time was dealing with the bankruptcy of General Motors. Mr. LaRouche proposed an infrastructure program that would require a number of plants to be retooled and the workforce retrained. Rohatyn instead forced the UAW to submit to a rotten deal which shipped a lot of manufacturing to places like Mexico.
